It was a beautiful day for a hike to the capanna Motterascio. Even cows and marmots were relaxing and enjoying the fresh air.

The arco della Greina is a gate between tree different dimensions. I tried to step to the other side several times but I am still trapped in our matrix. Just kidding ... but I must admit that it is a special place of natural beauty. You can reach it on a 30min hike from the capanana Scaletta.

The construction of the Gottardo railway started 1872. The whole line was inaugurated in 1882. Between Giornico 448m and Lavorgo 615m the train gains height by entering the two Biaschina double track spiral loop tunnels each approximately 1500m long.
The Biaschina viaduct of the A2 highway was built 100 years later in 1983.

I guess this is how a typical summer day looks like in the Alto Malcantone near Arosio.

It took 5 years to build the Luzzone dam. The works started in 1958 and finished in 1963. The dam is 225m high and can hold 108 millions cubic meters of water.
The wall can be climbed on a multi pitch artificial route . It's the longest of that kind in the whole world.
